Ketetahi Car Parking
The Dept of Conservation has implemented a 4 hour restriction for parking within the Ketetahi Car Park (finish point of the trek). Our customers may park on the roadside verge along State Highway 46. This is FREE parking. Please refer to our map - marked in yellow. There is also a picture that may help.
Regardless of where you are in the world, never leave your valuables unattended in your vehicle. NZ is a great country, but unfortunately we still get our share of ratbags. Always take your wallet and passport with you!
We recommend you arrive early, at least 15 minutes prior to departure, to sort yourselves out.
Caution is required when driving around this area, there is a high percentage of international drivers in close proximity, please do not be the person to stop in the middle of the highway to look at maps, take photos, make phone calls etc.
Patience and politeness is always good, if you are driving slowly, pull over and let the people behind you pass.
All bookings need to be confirmed by phone (0800 247 800) 48 hours prior to departure so you can have the most up to date track and weather conditions and your pick up location and time will also be confirmed.
Credit card details are required to secure your booking if booking by phone.
Being a weather dependent activity in an alpine environment on active volcanoes, we reserve the right to cancel at short notice if the conditions are unsafe to proceed. If we cancel, for safety reasons, we offer a full refund or an alternate date, your choice.
If you cancel more than 24 hours out you will receive a refund less an administration fee of 30% or an alternate date.
If you cancel within 24 hours you will be offered an alternate date but no refund.
We do realise that stuff happens that is out of your control and we will endeavour to make things right, we deal with these situations on a case by case basis to the relevant legislation.

As concessionaires we have a license to operate on Department of Conservation land. This carries a level of responsibility for your safety and a duty of care for you whilst on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. This we do by providing you with the most current and up to date weather, track and volcanic activity available to us and by adhering to the weather protocols as determined by the TACTAG user group. This group is made up of organisations, concessionaires and individual stakeholders. Eg Police, Department of Conservation and Land Search and Rescue. The collective knowledge and experience of this group is vast and comprehensive.
Ultimately, at the end of the day you are responsible for the decisions you make and it is your choice on how you want to use the information provided to you.
Our personal philosophy is that the individual is responsible for their own safety. Be prepared for all conditions, and you will have a great time.
We do not guarantee the weather.
